Geology of the North-eastern Part of the Mórágy Block

This new issue of the Regional Map Series of Hungary summarizes the geological and hydrogeological explorations devoted for the future disposal of low- and intermediate-level radioactive waste from the Paks Nuclear Power Plant.
The book can be bought in the Library of the Geological Institute of Hungary (Budapest 1143 Stefánia út 14.).

New bilingvish books of popular science,  “Magyarország földtani atlasza országjáróknak/Geological Atlas of Hungary for Tourists” and “Magyarország földtani atlasza országjáróknak/Geologischer Atlas von Ungarn für Touristen” has been published

The ”Geological Atlas of Hungary for Tourists” (editors: Tamás Budai and László Gyalog) has been published by the
Geological Institute of Hungary on the occasion of the International Year of Planet Earth.

The popular science book, 247 pages long, is richly illustrated by photos. Its appearance is similar to an atlas, and it consists of three parts. The first part gives a brief summary of the geological build-up of Hungary and the geological maps. This is followed by the geological map of Hungary on a scale of 1: 200 000. The third part of the book gives the description of some outstanding geological values of Hungary among which natural rock-forms, artificial exposures, caves and nature trails can be found. Travellers and tourists who are interested in geology can find them with the help of detailed sketch-maps; grids on the geological map also help them to locate these places. At the end of the book a list is given comprising the main data for caves (to which the public has free access), geological nature trails, medicinal baths, geological collections and mining memorials.BükkábrányBükkábrány
The book can be bought in the Library of the Geological Institute of Hungary (Budapest 1143 Stefánia út 14.). Price: 4.500 Fts.
