Task

The National Geological Museum holds the largest geological collection of the country. It was established by the decree of the emperor Frances Joseph II in 1869 simultaneously with the foundation of the Geological Institute. The unique inventoried stock of the 23 thematic collections of the Museum amounts to more than 150 thousand items. The collections store fundamental science-historical materials, images, minerals, rocks, fossils and core samples of deep wells. The exhibitions of the museum and the "art geo" palace of the Institute one of the masterpieces of Hungarian Secession and declared national monument can be visited on Thursday, Saturday and Sunday between 10 and 16 hours.
