27th annual conference of the Geoscience Information Consortium
21st-25th May 2012 Budapest, Hungary
Preamble
The main aim of the Geoscience Information Consortium (GIC) is to exchange information among Geological Survey Organizations (GSOs) related to the use and management of geoscience information systems in support of the Earth sciences internationally.
The GIC membership is open to all national Geological Survey Organizations, who wish to contribute to the improved understanding of geoscience information systems. National Geological Surveys wishing to join the consortium should apply to the GIC Executive Secretary. See also the GIC homepage.
The GIC annual conferences are hosted by geological surveys of the GIC member countries. Each member country is allowed to send up to two delegates to the conference. The delegates should be of senior staff of the geological survey who are responsible for information systems.

The GIC-27 annual conference is hosted by the Geological Institute of Hungary in Budapest, Hungary, from 21st to 25th May 2012. Pre-registration for the conference is available here.

The Geological Institute of Hungary (MÁFI) and the Eötvös Loránd Geophysical Institute of Hungary (ELGI) merged on 1st April 2012. The new institute is the Geological and Geophysical Institute of Hungary (MFGI).
